The Arts Council is the development agency for the arts in Ireland and the primary source of support for the individual creative and interpretative artist.

Its role is to provide advice to government and non-governmental bodies, individuals and arts organisations on artistic matters, and support and financial assistance for artistic purposes to individuals and organisations.

It annually funds over 500 arts and non-arts organisations and makes awards to over 500 individuals across all art forms.
