Athlone Community Taskforce is one of the Community Groups supported by Area Development Management, as part of its Local Development programme.
ACT was established in 1992 by Athlone Rotary Club to respond to high levels of unemployment in Athlone by providing enterprise supports, business mentoring and enterprise units. ACT has developed a strategic plan for the delivery of the Local Development Social Inclusion programme, and provides enterprise training, childcare development, and community development through direct service provision, leadership, financial grant aid and technical assistance in partnership with State bodies, the local authority, voluntary agencies, local communities and entrepreneurs.
