These Community Groups are funded by Area Development Management Ltd), to deliver the Local Development Measure of the Social Inclusion programme. Many of the groups are also involved in other activities.
The types of activities undertaken by the groups include:
- Community tourism or heritage projects
- Ensuring the inclusion of the most disadvantaged groups in Community Group activities and at Board level
- Enterprise support programmes
- Establishing and supporting networks of community and voluntary groups
- Projects to improve the local environment and the visual appeal of the more disadvantaged areas
- Providing childcare and other supports to ensure full participation opportunities for lone parents and unemployed people
- Refurbishment of buildings for use as community resource centres
- Support for community training programmes.
