The Dublin Seed Capital fund was set up specifically to provide early stage seed capital to new and developing enterprises in the Dublin region. The Fund also serves as a feeder fund to other venture capital funds. It is an active investor, working with companies at board level. The Fund was established by Dublin BIC, supported by the private sector and Enterprise Ireland through the EU Seed Capital Measure of the Operational Programme for Industrial Development 1994-1999. In December 2001, an additional €5 million was committed to the Fund, increasing it to €7.5 million. It now operates under the Seed & Venture Capital Fund Scheme 2001-2006 under the National Development plan. The fund is targeted across a broad range of technology, manufacturing and trading services sectors.
