The €1.9 million Irish BICs Seed Capital Fund (managed by Dublin BIC) provides early-stage seed capital from €12,700 to €127,000 to new and developing enterprises in the Republic of Ireland.

It was established by Dublin Business Innovation Centre, Cork Business Innovation Centre, Limerick Business Innovation Centre, South East Business Innovation Centre, WestBIC and Enterprise Ireland through the EU Seed and Venture Capital Measure of the Operational Programme for Industrial Development 1994-1999 (and now operates under the Seed & Venture Capital Measure 2001-2006 of the National Development Plan).

Projects should be:

• In biotechnology, IT-related, industrial products, manufacturing, or high-tech industries
• Innovative and technology-led with good business development and growth potential
• Financially and economically viable with prospects for a good return on investment
• Able to demonstrate the potential to create sustained employment.
