IDB has two roles:

• It helps companies — whether new investors or those already operating from Northern Ireland — to develop business in Europe and globally from a Northern Ireland location
• It attracts new foreign investment to Northern Ireland from manufacturing and tradeable services companies.

A priority is to promote industrial projects in areas of greatest social need.

IDB focuses on larger projects while LEDU is responsible for SMEs.

IDB Corporate Finance & Restructuring Division operates a £15.5 million venture capital fund.
