NovaUCD is the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre on the UCD campus.
NovaUCD provides a comprehensive business support programme. It offers a combination of advice, clinics, and courses, comprising:
- The Campus Company Development Programme, a business start-up programme which has run annually since 1996
- Clinics and other advice from the NovaUCD sponsors and other organisations covering areas such as law, banking, finance, patenting, licensing and new venture formation
- The NovaUCD Network of professional business contacts including seed and venture funds
- Access to established training and continuing professional development programmes
- Introduction to UCD’s research base, the largest and most diversified concentration of scientific and technological expertise in the country.
The NovaUCD business support programme covers all aspects of new venture formation from proof of principle to successful commercialisation and growth, including:
- Advice and support on project development
- Building the entrepreneurial team
- Developing the business model
- Financial planning and management
- Preparation of business plans
- Company formation
- Access to finance
- Business growth.
NovaUCD is also responsible for the management of intellectual property arising from UCD research programmes and is the point of contact both for industry seeking advice from the University and for university personnel seeking industrial partners.
NovaUCD offers access to:
- A building specifically designed to facilitate the development of a community of entrepreneurs
- Forty-two incubation units of various sizes to meet the needs of growing companies including limited wet-lab space
- Desk space for entrepreneurs involved in the design of new ventures or the commercialisation of UCD research
- Coffee Bar which provides an informal meeting place for entrepreneurs and their clients
- Practical facilities including seminar room, meeting rooms and advanced telecommunications and AV facilities normally only available to larger companies, and access to internet facilities and UCD network
- Professional secretarial and reception services including telephone answering and mail handling
- 24-hour access, car parking and security
- Proximity to UCD facilities such as bookshops, bank, restaurants, sports and other facilities
- Modern conference and seminar facilities at the University Industry Centre offered at preferential rates to NovaUCD clients.
