The Seed Capital Fund is targeted at:

• Individuals and groups in disadvantaged areas or that have been disadvantaged as a result of the political situation in Northern Ireland
• Projects that have difficulty in accessing funding from other sources
• High-tech projects.

Among the objectives of the Fund are:

• To create and accelerate investment in Northern Ireland
• To improve access to finance for new business start-ups in disadvantaged areas and for individuals whose circumstances make access to finance difficult
• To increase the number of employment opportunities in Northern Ireland as a whole and in disadvantaged areas in particular.

Managed by LEDU, the Fund is available through:

• Local Enterprise Agencies: Down Business Centre, Dungannon Enterprise Centre Ltd, Larne Enterprise Development Company Ltd, Lisburn Enterprise Organisation Ltd, Westlink Enterprises Ltd and Workspace (Draperstown) Ltd
• ORTUS: Part of the Fund has been allocated to the ORTUS Fund
• Emerging Business Trust: A proportion of the Fund has been allocated to the EBT Fund.
