The Social Economy Agency provides support to the co-operative movement.

It has developed programmes for the sector, including Capacity Building, New Start, Community Business, Community Economic Development Initiative (CEDI) and Growth and Expansion Programmes. It also offers a Personal Enterprise Programme for the long-term unemployed.

It also offers services including business plans and feasibility studies, local area profiles, legal structures and customised training packages. In addition, it has developed training courses to meet the specific needs of Social Economy initiatives:

• Social Auditing (accredited with the Open College Network Level III)
• RSA Owner Manager New Business Management (NVQ Level III)
• Committee Skills Training
• Strategic Planning
• Sustainability.
