Tuath, the Donegal Community and Local Development Centre Ltd, is a support mechanism for the community and local development sectors in the county.

It is based in the Letterkenny Institute of Technology and is being led out by LYIT and the Community and Enterprise Division of Donegal County Council. Tuath’s partners include amongst others, the VEC, Teagasc, Udaras, and the North Western Health Board.

The project aims to deliver on three main themes:

  • Training and Education - providing a range of educational and training programmes throughout the county with the aim of building the capacities of individuals and groups, and of providing support based on recognised needs and opportunities
  • Research and Policy – addressing the significant lack of research into community and local development in the region by facilitating learning into gap areas, and where appropriate, circulating this information throughout the community sector
  • Development Support – creating a skills database of community and local development providers within Donegal so that skills can be built on, and be utilised within the county, and models of good practice, access and experience shared within the sector.
