Údarás na Gaeltachta combines an economic development role (that of creating sustainable jobs and attracting investment to the Gaeltacht regions) with community, cultural and language-development activities, working in partnership with local communities and organisations.

Projects in manufacturing, internationally-traded services (such as software development and telemarketing/servicing) and natural resources such as mariculture are the priority for assistance.

It offers grant schemes and incentives to help small and medium-sized enterprises in the Gaeltacht areas, which are broadly in line with those available nationally from Enterprise Ireland.
